Aurex (Cognitive Perceptions Device):
Aurex is a modular 2×2 thermal maze designed for advanced behavioral neuroscience research. Each of its four isolated quadrants features independent temperature control via copper plates, capable of heating to 50 °C or cooling to as low as 5 °C in under 60 seconds—parameters selected to align with animal welfare standards. Quadrants can be run in Auto mode for stable thermal environments or Manual mode for researcher-defined temperature dynamics.
Animals navigate between quadrants through motorized doors, which can be opened manually or triggered via operant responses using integrated nosepoke sensors. An OLED screen displays real-time quadrant temperatures and nosepoke activity. All data—including temperature (logged every 10 seconds), nosepoke events, door activity, and manual overrides—is recorded to a microSD card for detailed analysis.
Aurex is fully compatible with the Kinder Scientific Smart Frame Open Field, enabling seamless integration into existing behavioral setups.
Aurex offers precise environmental control, robust data logging, and flexible operant conditioning capabilities—all within a compact, adaptable platform
